DEDICATED CALIFORNIAN /
ETERNAL OPTIMIST

We only have one life.

Let’s make our actions and words count.

Meet Lyra

A progressive activist, writer and lover of family and community.

Lyra lives in Northern California and has always loved the inspiration and joy that comes from the natural world.

Her goal through her words and actions is to help people appreciate and take pleasure in the beauty of the world while also striving to improve it.

Throughout her career, Lyra’s work has been published in The Sun, the 34th Parallel, California Northern, Play on Words (POW), in the news and in outlets including NPR, NPR-KQED, NPR-CapRadio and Santa Monica Daily Press.

Lyra is seeking representation for her debut memoir, CALIFORNIA GROWN: Becoming a Feminist in Fertile Ground.

Lyra is showing people that art, music and positive change can succeed during chaotic political times.

We each have a unique story.

But we are more alike than we are different.

The Book

A memoir for anyone looking for a story of hope, healing and human endurance.

CALIFORNIA GROWN details growing up in the 1950s and '60s in California, showing how the changes in politics, community and the land then are similar to today. Lyra’s story gives hope to those facing today's political and cultural challenges.

Surrounded by the beauty of the Pacific Ocean and Northern California rivers and farms, but haunted by antisemitism and racism in America, Lyra’s story demonstrates the power of nature to heal and provide joy - even during the darkest of times.

CALIFORNIA GROWN showcases the tenacity of individuals and the responsibility we have to make our communities better for all of us.

What began as a reflection of personal experiences evolved into a tribute to California and a message for those who want to make positive change while embracing life.
